Cadiz as a port visit

If I were to be honest, I researched Cadiz and I wrote it off as one of those cruise ports that will be a dime a dozen.  We decided to take a hop-on, hop-off tour and explore the area on foot.  The area is not huge, so you can usually walk to most places on foot.  We came to port with no expectations.

When we arrived, we did the hop-on, hop-off and got a lay of the land.  When we were done, we focused on the main area that, honestly, is right across from the port.  In my experience, this is usually not the case.  We wandered the alleys and shops.  We decided to have lunch at a random restaurant in one of the alleys we walked down.  It was yummy and exactly what we were looking for.  We ended up stumbling on a Cathedral that we were unaware of.  When we entered, it turned out to be insane—so many carvings and statues.  Clearly, many talented individuals contributed to putting this place on the map.

As for shopping…. It was your typical fare that you expect at a cruise port.  There was gelato available that was tasty and a welcome addition to our long walks.  The architecture is interesting, the people are welcoming, and the food is delicious.  It is a pleasant port to visit.
